Rigorous Training, Experience and Exam Required to Achieve Diplomate Certification Conferred by American Board of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine

MISHAWAKA, Ind., June 21, 2016 – The American Board of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine (ABVLM) has X-Ray Consultants (XRC) radiologist Terrence D. Wilkin, M.D., diplomate status. The ABVLM certification reflects Dr. Wilkin’s deep knowledge of vein care and commitment to the field’s advancement.

“The entire physician team and staff at XRC applauds Dr. Wilkin on his ABVLM distinction and appreciates the expertise he brings to our team,” said Edward L. Yang, M.D., President of X-Ray Consultants.

To become an ABVLM diplomate, an applicant must complete the requisite training and experience qualifications, meet the continuing medical education requisites, and pass a stringent certification examination. Certification periods are ten years, and maintenance is dependent on the ability of the diplomate to display competency in four areas of assessment: evidence of professional standing; evidence of commitment to lifelong learning and periodic self-assessment; evidence of cognitive expertise; and evaluation of performance in practice.

Dr. Wilkin earned his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine where he also completed his diagnostic radiology residency. He completed his fellowship training in vascular and interventional Radiology at the Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, IL.

Dr. Wilkin is certified by the American Board of Radiology with a Certificate of Added Qualification in vascular and interventional radiology. Wilkin is a member of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) and the American College of Phlebology (SIR).
