Continuing Quality Improvement Programs

The provision of quality services is something that health care consumers have come to expect from all health care providers. At XRCMI however, we do not believe that quality is something just to be achieved and then maintained; it is something to be continually improved, hence our Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Program.

There are three components to our CQI Program:

    •Patient and Referring Physician Satisfaction
    •Peer Review
    •Quality Assurance

Patient and Referring Physician Satisfaction is something that we take very seriously and constantly measure and benchmark. At the completion of each visit, patients are given a survey form, sort of an "exit poll" to evaluate XRCMI's services, along with a postage-paid envelope. Please take a few moments to fill out this form and return it to us so that we can continually improve. Likewise, we periodically survey our referring physicians to ensure that we're meeting their needs and to seek their input as to how we may continually improve.

Peer Review involves radiologists checking each other's work. Whenever a study is read, any previous images and reports are reviewed for comparative purposes. With 14 radiologists in X-Ray Consultants, it is likely that the review of the previous study will most often be done by a different radiologist than who originally read the exam. When this happens, its peer review. Data is collected from this peer review. It is analyzed and statistics are compiled, all for the purpose of continual quality improvement in image interpretation.

Quality Assurance ensures that all of XRCMI's sophisticated medical equipment is always in optimal working order and receives periodic preventive maintenance. So what does quality assurance (sometimes called "quality control") have to do with continuous quality improvement? Only through the constant monitoring of our equipment can we accurately determine when it is time for repair, upgrade or replacement. When repair, upgrade or replacement takes place so does improvement, and this occurs continuously.

From time-to-time XRCMI will add or subtract to certain aspects of its CQI Program, based on needs and relevance. The program itself however, will always be a constant, as will our desire to continuously improve.
